Homework Policy
- In fifth grade, students should be expecting 50 minutes of homework a night. They can expect daily assignments in math with occasional assignments in reading, writing, social studies or science.
- Fifth graders have an assignment book, in which their homework is recorded daily. For the first month of school, parents will be asked to sign the assignment book.
- Students are expected to read 25 minutes a night and record the reading in their reading logs. Reading logs are collected monthly and are part of the Language Arts grade.
- Homework is due daily; there will frequently be math and reading homework to complete over the weekend.
- When a student has completed 10 homework assignments in a row, they will receive a Homework Coupon.
- If homework is not turned in on time, students will not participate in the morning meeting and will spend the time completing their missing work.
- If homework is not completed during morning meeting, students will be given the opportunity to complete it at night.
- If the homework is still not complete the next day, parents will be informed.
- If an assignment receives a score lower than a 70, a parent must sign the assignment, and it will be brought back the next school day. The student will then have the opportunity to sit with Mrs. Kyle to re-do the work.
