I have wanted to be a teacher since elementary school! I loved the activities and projects we did and still remember exploring the solar system in 4th grade.
I spent my middle school, high school and college years ensuring that I would become a teacher. I graduated from Central Connecticut State University with my bachelor's degree in American History and then attended the University of New Haven where I received my master's degree in Education. When I was a student teacher, I worked with Mrs. Miller. She moved up to MSP last year, and teaches 6th grade ELA, so you'll see her around next year! I started teaching in September of 2008 in second grade at Wheeler School and moved up to fifth grade the following year. I taught 5th grade for three years, moved down to 4th grade for one year and looped back up with my class to fifth grade! I stayed in 5th for another three years before moving to third grade for a year. I'm back in the BEST grade now!
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy reading, baking, traveling, playing soccer, camping and spending time with my family. Every summer I travel with my family to a new location in the United States and we camp out for a week! This past summer was our 40th year of camping together as a family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.)!! We've camped up and down the East Coast, traveled to Canada (Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Montreal), out west to Chicago, South Dakota, and one summer we spent two weeks in Yellowstone National Park! I've also traveled around the world. I've visited Italy twice, Greece, France, Mexico and numerous Caribbean Islands. I grew up in South Windsor and I now live in Vernon with my husband, our daughters, Brenna (7) and Taryn (1), our son, Garrett (5), our 11-year-old orange cat, Hobbes and Brenna's beta fish, Dexter.
I'm excited to get to know all of you and we'll spend the first few days of school sharing more about each other. See you September 3rd!
~Mrs. Kyle
