Description of the Programs
The Junior Great Books Program enhances critical thinking and fosters a deep appreciation for rich literature. The program meets many of the Common Core standards for reading, speaking, listening, and writing. Additionally, it is an inquiry-based reading program that challenges students, sparks their ideas, and promotes critical thinking through stimulating discussions. The texts are rigorous and provide the depth of interpretation necessary for reflection and thoughtful discussion.
Jacob's Ladder Reading Comprehension Program enhances reading comprehension and builds critical thinking skills in high ability learners. Students engage in the inquiry process that moves from lower order to higher order thinking skills. They read poetry, short stories, and nonfiction texts.
