NCC Shawn White

Naval Science Instructor

    A native of Norfolk Virginia, Chief White graduated from Lake Taylor high school in 1989, and Recruit Training Command Great lakes in 1993.  In December of 1993, he reported to Navy Submarine Tender USS Hunley (AS-31) where he served as a patternmaker and interior maintenance man.

         After the decommission of Hunley, he transferred to USS Merrimack (AO-179).  He served as Cargo Control Supervisor and Command Fuel Quality Surveillance Petty Officer.  It was during this tour that he was selected to attend Navy Cryogenic Operator “C” school where he would earn his qualification as a Cryogenic Engineer.

         In January of 1998 Chief White reported on board USS George Washington (CVN-73).  While serving as repair parts petty officer, he was sought out to “cross deck” to USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) to run the ships Catapult shop.

         Chief White reported to NSA Bahrain in 2002 as a small boat gunner and combat coxswain.  He executed over 150 HVA escorts and spearheaded fly away teams to Kuwait, Dubai, and Fujairah.

         In May 2006, Chief White reported to NRD Phoenix.  Recruiting duty would prove to be his last assignment while serving on active duty.  His recruiting career would span 11 years and 3 recruiting districts.  While on recruiting he was Selected as a Chief Petty Officer, and held positions of Command Trainer, Zone Supervisor, Scholarship Coordinator, Division Leading Chief Petty Officer, and S.T.E.M. Coordinator.

Chief White ended his illustrious naval career on August 31, 2017.
