I'm Mrs. Casimir the dance educator at Largo High School. I am so excited to start another year with your wonderful students!

Below you will find a description for each of the classes that we offer at Largo High School.
Semester 1
Dance 1A
Prerequisites: No Prerequisites
Course Description: Credits: .50 Fine Arts
This semester course focuses on the fundamentals of dance through terminology and the practice of dance technique at a beginning level. A variety of dance forms are offered ranging from Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Folk, Social and World dance forms. Dance theory is taught through the application of vocabulary, history, beginning principles of choreography, and observation of live and filmed/videotaped performances. Performance components beyond the regular school day are required.
Dance 2A
Prerequisites: Dance 1A, Dance 1B
2A Course Description: .50 Fine Arts
This course is for the student who has passed the prerequisites of Dance IA & IB or for the student who seeks higher placement because of previous dance training. Acceleration for class placement will be based on an interview, auditions and permission granted by the instructor. This class will provide continued expansion and refinement of dance vocabulary and technical skills. Dance combinations will become longer in length and more technically challenging, with emphasis on improving musicality and performance presence. The principles of dance vocabulary, history, choreography and criticism are expanded at this level. Performance components beyond the regular school day are required.
Dance 3A
Prerequisites: Dance 1A, Dance 1B, Dance 2A, Dance 2B
Course Description: .50 Fine Arts
This semester course is for the student who has met the prerequisite or for the student who seeks higher-class placement through an interview, audition, and recommendation of the instructor. At this level the emphasis is on the development of proficiency in the execution of dance technique, increased dance literacy, and improvement of performance. Principles of choreographic structure will be applied and the criticism process will integrate subjective and objective response to dance performance and choreographic analysis.

Prerequisites: Dance 1A

All of these courses will acquaint the dancers with dance class etiquette, vocabulary, history of their style and legends of the dance world, anatomy, proper health & nutrition, strength & conditioning, musical relationships, production elements in relation to dance, real-world applications of dance in their future, and elements of performance.
In order to achieve the goals of these courses, the dancer-student MUST strive to conduct themselves in a respectful way at ALL times. Self-discipline, dedication, and humility are extremely necessary for all participants. In dance class, we will work hard every day. Dance, as an art form, requires discipline, dedication, and AN OPEN MIND.
