12th Grade

Art 1, 2, 3, 4

This course emphasizes the development of foundation art concept and skills. Art experiences include drawing, painting, printmaking, lettering, and sculpturing. A wide range of art media will be used. The sequential courses introduce of a wider range of media skills and technique in both 2-D and 3-D in order to increase development of the students’ art concepts and skills.

C or better is required to enroll in the next level.

Basic Design

This semester course is intended for students who have had little art background. Most work in class will be flat work. This unit will stress such areas of concentration as design elements and principles in drawing, painting, and printing. Students will study the history of design. They will learn the fundamentals of critiquing artwork.

Basic Drawing and Painting

This semester is intended for students with little art background who would like to have some experiences with drawing, sketching, and painting. Master work of 2-D artists will be studied.

Basic Sculpture

This semester course will emphasize the importance of craftsmanship in working with 3-D media. Clay, metal, wood, wax, stone, yarns, and fabrics may be molded, carved, woven, and constructed into many sculptures.

Ceramics 1 and 2

This course focuses on creative expression with clay. The hand-building techniques of slab and coil will be explored as well as other methods of creating with clay. Pottery decoration and glazing will also be taught.

Computer Graphics 1

Introduces fundamental software used in computer graphic design including the user interface and operating system, navigation, file organization, and use of digital devices. The class emphasizes basic design skills while learning industry standard design software, experimentation and creative solutions to design problems. Teaching the skills required for creating, manipulating, and publishing digital images for print.

10th,11th,12thC or better and signature is required to enroll in the next level.

Computer Graphics 2

This course is designed for student who intend to major in computer graphics and motion design. The emphasis is placed on advanced design work as well as working with advanced software. The student will develop a personal direction in their work develop digital portfolio presentations for college portfolio, exhibitions and competitions.

Pre-requisite: Computer Graphics 111th and 12thMr. Arcusa or Mrs. Buchanan's signature are required on schedule request form.

Drawing & Painting 1

This year long course will provide opportunities for students to develop drawing and painting skills.

Pre-requisite:Art 1 or Basic Drawing & Painting

Honors Art Studio 1

The course is designed for the advanced student who has matured artistically and aesthetically. The art teacher and the student will develop an outline and plans for a portfolio of artwork to be executed. Standards for organizing portfolios and entering work in national and local art shows will be the primary concern. Mr. Goldman's signature is required.

Intro to

Photography

This course will introduce students to basic photography. The content will include the history and mechanics of photography as well as the aesthetics and cultural influences, elements and principles of design in photography. Teacher and student work is an integral part of this course.

Intermediate

Photography

This is a full year course designed to teach students how to become great photographers and photo editors. Students will learn further depth of manual controls, the art of photography, specific contents of photography, ie. Sculpture 1 and 2

Emphasis on sculpture processes. This course will use a wide range of materials to create a variety of 3-D projects.

Television Production

1 & 2

This course offers the students the opportunity to assist the direction and production of television programs. It will acquaint students with techniques and problems of television production through application of theory and methods. The course will survey all aspects of television production from camera operation to directing. The students will covet the basic elements needed for a production including script writing.
