Our Mission
The Visual Arts program is critical to education and learning. The visual arts promote acquisition of and fluency in new ways of thinking, working, communicating, reasoning and investigating.
All of our students will be able to communicate visually, verbally and in written form using higher level thinking. They will be able to explain Art's connections in everyday life, preparing them for success in college and the workforce.
Art engages the learner in analysis, synthesis and evaluation. Students develop techniques, approaches and habits for applying knowledge and skills in the visual arts to the world beyond school. The Visual Arts program provides experiences in studio processes, art history, aesthetics and criticism. Critical observations, valid analysis and insightful interpretation are central to the observation process. Infused into all aspects of the curriculum are elements of written and oral communication as well as career decision-making skills.
