Overall System redundancy

Our new server platform will be Dell R905 with Zen virtual enviroments. A second R905 will be online for failover. Each R905 will use Equalogic SAN hardrive arrays 16 drives with Dual connection Controllers will ensure no one drive or connection will interupt service. Each R905 will power about 30 versions of windows simultatiously. All HMI, Database, and Domain controling will be housed on the primary R905. upon a issue such as OS based corruption, or Hardware Based failure; a snapshot of that server can be brought backup on the second R905 in less than 10 minutes.

Each instance of a server can be moved to the 2nd server individually or collectively so hardware repairs or upgrades can be preformed. Multiple pathways to the network will exsist so plant floor process will have a greater chance of locating a Database server in the event of a switch or cabling failure. two main fiber backbones exsist in an etherchannel confiuration, thus effectivelly creating a triple redundant platform. Because proof of kill steps are becoming more esential it is vital that processes are recorded, maintained, reported, and backuped to midigate liabilty and sustain our high OEE expectations.
