Kid Writing:

The writing program being used in our classroom is titled Kid Writing written by Eileen Feldgus, Ed. D. and Isabell Cardonick, M. Ed. and was published by the Wright Group.

The philosophy behind this wonderful program is that children learn to write best by:

  • Working through a gradual progression towards adult writing.

  • Working in a risk-free environment with high levels of challenge and support.

  • using frequent, ongoing opportunities to play with written language and investigate how written language works.

  • using many opportunities to write about topics of their own choice.

  • instructors that model the thinking processes involved in creating a piece of writing.

Students use journals for the Kid Writing program, as it provides them with the opportunity to communicate their ideas and explore written language in the environment. You can visit the website:www.kidwriting.com for more information.
