Developing academic language is important for success in school and in most careers. Today's more rigorous standards place a greater emphasis on the increased demands for language within content areas. Academic language growth comes about through on-going, focused efforts by teachers of all grades and subject areas.
"Language is no longer seen as separated from content ... rather, language and content are viewed as integral to one another" (Text Project, Oct. 2013).
This resource was developed to assist teachers in providing academic language instruction through reference materials and professional development modules (available for PDUs and/or EOU credit).
