Each location will have a designated area to place a patient with suspected COVID 19.
Gena and Purnima will be contacting the coordinators over the next few days to arrange the area
and ensure you have the proper supplies to manage the situation.
Be sure to close the door to this room to limit exposure.
Greenville: Empty Office at the end of the Radiology Hall (my old office as reference)
Simpsonville: Bone Density room
Mauldin: Empty room not in use
Taylors: Empty room not in use
If these rooms are used PLEASE place a sign on the door.
Also after use these rooms must be wiped down thoroughly.
The nurses and doctors will be provided education and training on how to triage and treat any suspected positive coronavirus patients.
This will include wearing a mask, gloves, disposable gown, very few vitals.
Every necessary precaution should be taken if treatment of a suspected coronavirus patient arises.
Please note we will continue to monitor the CDC website and news outlets for any new bulletins.
We will update PMC staff members as new information arises.
And as always if you have any questions or you feel like you might have been exposed outside of work, CALL YOUR MANAGER FIRST!
We will be sending out updates as we know more.
Thank you so much for your understanding and commitment to healthcare!
PMC Managers
However, if a patient simply refuses or presents as a walk-in to the front desk and the coronavirus is suspected,
PLEASE IMMEDIATELY provide a mask to the patient and escort him / her to your location's designated quarantine room.
Wipe down any surfaces the patient may touch along the way. Advise your manager immediately.
If the answer is YES we should direct the patient to one of the local urgent care facilities like MD360 or to the hospital.
Due to the hospital ownership, these places will be better equipped to contain, test and treat patients with minimal risk to the general population.
To screen our first question should be:
Have you traveled recently?
Could you have come into contact with anyone in the last 14 days who might have had the coronavirus?
The symptoms of the COVID 19 infections can range from a very mild to a very severe respiratory illness
and may include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. This is very much like the flu so we have to be vigilant in screening.

As the coronavirus spreads, we want to be sure all employees are aware of the signs/symptoms, how to screen for the virus, and how to manage a patient who might present with it.
