TWI=Training Within Industry (Link to Wikipedia on TWI)
TWI had an ingenious way to make sure the knowledge of everyone in the Industry organization was documented and utilized.
TWI stated:
The important thing is that the person doing the job also writes the instructions that are used both at the workstation but also are used when training new users. This ensures that Checklists are ueful and kept up to date. But also that they are regularly questioned everytime a new user is educated using the instruction. This closes the feedback loop so that the questions from the new user will be included in the instruction making it more clear and better.
The same thinking pattern can be used almost anywhere. make sure the person doing the job is responsible to create the "checklist" or the "process" and also that they know they will use the checklist for their own work as well as using the chekclist to educate anyone who needs to do the same job.
Take advantage of TWI and reuse the way to think, there are some steps to make this happen in the organisation and at PDLA we have successfully implemented TWI-thinking in industrys and non-industry organizations. We can help you with the training and the implementation. Contact us at info@pdla.se and we will get back to you.
