Harold (Bud) Beck Memorial Scholarship: Beck Well Drilling is giving a $500 scholarship in memory of Harold, (Bud) Beck this year. Mr. Beck passed away April 7, 2023. He graduated from Buckley Loda high school 1958. He had a strong passion for the golf game and competition. He had four Lakeview country club championships and six holes-in-one, which he was very proud of. This scholarship needs to go to a student that demonstrates good academic performance, as well as strong, golfing skills and was a member of the golf team at least one year during high school. The Hofer Family Foundation Scholarship: Would like to award a $1,000 scholarship for students who “believe in who they are” in memory of their son, Seth Hofer. The Michael D. Terry Memorial Scholarship: Established by his daughter, Dr. Miranda Terry, in honor of her dad, Mike Terry. He graduated from Buckley-Loda High School in 1976 and was a mechanic and talented artist. He died of melanoma in 1994. This scholarship is to assist a student who will pursue a trade, vocational, or junior college in a career program. Nexus-Onarga & Grand Prairie Seminary’s: Have partnered to award two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to Iroquois County school district seniors who plan to enroll as full-time students in a post-high school curriculum. Paxton Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship: The Paxton Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted in 2023 to fund an annual scholarship for one male and one female graduate of Paxton Buckley Loda High School. Slick Finish Renovation Scholarship: This scholarship celebrates those characteristics by seeking out others who are cut from a similar cloth. A $500 one-time scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who is interested in career trades such as, but not limited to, fabrication, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and beyond. Timothy DeAtley Memorial Scholarship: Established by his son, Justin DeAtley, in honor of his dad, Tim DeAtley. He graduated from Buckley-Loda High School in 1975. He passed away on March 18, 2025 after a long fight against cancer. He was a prime example of how a small town boy achieved extraordinary things and with dreams and a vision, absolutely anything is possible.
