Eligibility:
1) Career Intent or Commitment to Mental Health Advocacy - Applicant must either have a clear intention to pursue a career in the mental health field (e.g., psychology, psychiatry, social work, counseling) or a commitment to promoting mental health awareness, education, or advocacy through actions that contribute to greater understanding or support of mental health in their community or beyond.
2) Evidence of Resilience, Empathy, or Personal Experience - Applicant must show evidence of personal resilience, empathy, or a meaningful personal experience with mental health, reflecting a commitment to improving the field or societal understanding of mental health.
3) Grades should NOT be the determining factor for who receives this scholarship. The scholarship is intended for a student who is passionate about expanding mental health awareness and erasing the stigma surrounding mental health.
4) Submission of an essay "Personal Journey and Vision for Advancing Mental Health".

The Matt Alsfield Award
Eligibility: Graduating senior in CT, RI, or MA continuing their education in either college or trade school. Student must show genuine caring for other people. They should have a passion that is not necessarily mainstream, and they don't have to be a superstar at it. They must demonstrate care and compassion to the community. They should befriend those who don't fit into the norm. They should treat teachers and other students with respect.

Rhonda Doney Memorial Scholarship Application
This scholarship is made possible by a generous commitment of annual donations to honor the memory of Rhonda Doney, who passed away in 2020. Rhonda was a beloved long-time cafeteria worker and part-time custodian at Oxford High School who also volunteered her time working in the High School snack shack. She loved working at the High School and interacting with the students. She was a happy and positive person who enjoyed doing things for others.

Wayne Westall Memorial Scholarship Application
This scholarship is made possible by generous donations from the Westall family to honor the memory of their beloved son and brother, Wayne Westall, who was a student-athlete at Oxford High School and graduated in 1972. Tragically, he passed away in 1975 after being struck by a truck while walking home.

Irwin D. & Lillian E. Pottle Scholarship Application
This scholarship is made possible by a generous endowment from the Irwin D. & Lillian E. Pottle Educational Trust. Mr. and Mrs. Pottle were Oxford residents and very active in the community. Mrs. Pottle, who passed away in 2002, worked as the plant manager for a local knitting mill for 34 years. Mr. Pottle, who passed away in 1988, served as long-time Principal of Oxford High School until his retirement in 1981. Mr. Pottle cherished his time at Oxford High School, retiring with many fond memories of his years working in the District, and of the many wonderful staff members and students he encountered along the way. The Pottle’s only son, Glenn, predeceased them in 1973.

Jeffrey V. Fallavolita Memorial Scholarship Application
This scholarship is made possible by a generous donation of the Fallavollita Family to honor the memory of their beloved son and brother, Jeffrey, who passed away unexpectedly in 1988 at the age of 16. Jeffrey was a student at Oxford High School and especially enjoyed art class and drawing.

Richard "Vinnie" Vincent Scholarship Application
This scholarship is made possible by a generous donation from the American Legion Post 58 Family, to honor the memory of their brother and military veteran, Richard “Vinnie” Vincent, who passed away in 2022. Mr. Vincent was retired from the U.S. Navy, having served proudly in Operation Desert Storm. He was a beloved long-time custodian with the Oxford Public Schools ending his career as Head Custodian at the A. M. Chaffee School, where he was a valued member of the staff.

Gahagan Family Memorial Scholarship Application
This scholarship is made possible by the generous endowment from Helen Gahagan who passed away in 2003. The Gahagan family was a long-time fixture in the Oxford community and believed strongly in education and the teaching profession. There were four sisters in the family who all attended the Oxford schools and became teachers.

George A. & Paul P. Pytko Memorial Scholarship Application
This scholarship is made possible by a generous donation from Judith F. Pytko to honor the memory of her beloved husband, Paul, and father-in-law, George. The Pytko family are long time Oxford residents. Paul attended Oxford High School and furthered his education by earning both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in civil engineering, specializing in structural engineering. He worked his entire career in the heavy construction field supervising and managing large complex projects such as dams, interstate highways, bridges, utilities, and large scale site work. He worked as President of the Pytko Construction Corporation up until the time of his death in 2006.

Jennifer Marie Lehner Endowed Scholarship Application
This scholarship is made possible by a generous donation from John Lehner to honor his beloved daughter, Jennifer Marie Lehner, who has special needs. Jennifer attended Oxford Public Schools and thrived while in school due to the excellent care and attention she received from both the teachers and nurses. For this reason, Mr. Lehner recognized the importance of having qualified and dedicated educators and nurses in the public schools.

Roger and Myrtle Bacon Scholarship
Mr. Bacon was the principal at Oxford High School for 13 years, retiring in 1994. He began his career at Oxford High School in 1961 and worked as a math teacher, coach, guidance counselor, and assistant principal prior to becoming principal. Throughout his life he remained active in Oxford education and was a mentor to many. He served as chairman of the building committee during construction of the new high school building, and the gym was named the Roger D. Bacon Gymnasium in his honor. Through his time at the high school, Mr. and Mrs. Bacon proudly attended 69 proms.
Mr. and Mrs. Bacon were both active in local sports. They were members of the MIAA and Mr. Bacon was the Central Massachusetts Director of High School Basketball for 43 years. They were fans of all the New England Sports Teams, and held season tickets for the UConn Girls Basketball team for many years.
Mr. and Mrs. Bacon served on many town committees in Oxford. Mr. Bacon was named “Man of the Year” in Oxford and was known to many as Mr. Oxford. They were active members of the First Congregational Church in Oxford and served on many church committees as well.
Award Amount: $1,500 - awarded after first semester of college with proof of attendance

NAWIC Scholarship
Eligibility: Men and/or women planning to enroll as a full-time student in a construction-oriented 4 year program at any university or college, or a 1 or 2 year technical college in a full-time program, or planning to work in a construction-oriented apprenticeship program.
Award: Number and amount of awards varies. Last year, 4 scholarships of $1,000 were awarded to students throughout Worcester County.

Vietnam Veterans for the Community
Award Amount: $500
Eligibility: Any senior seeking to further their education at a 2- or 4-year college/university.

Application: Submit an essay of 250 words or less, answering the question, "What is your American Dream?" Essay must be submitted in hardcopy to the Guidance Office.
Grace M. Flynn Memorial Scholarship
Award Amount: $500
Eligibility: Graduating from Oxford High, Bay Path, or homeschooled, and a resident of Oxford. Minimum GPA of 3.0. Must have volunteered at the Oxford Free Public Library or St. Roch church during high school. Must pursue a post-secondary education, either college or vocational. See application form for additional details.

William R. Tittle Memorial Scholarship Award
Award Amount: $1,000
Eligibility: Applicants must be a member of the senior class of 2026 and have plans to further their education post graduation through some form of higher education (college, vocational/technical school etc.) or apprenticeship.

Award Amount: $1,000
Eligibility: a deserving individual who lives in Oxford (either from Oxford High School or Bay Path) pursuing a career in the military or post-secondary technical certificate or credential.

Award Amount: $5,000

Award Amount: $1,000
Eligibility: a deserving Oxford High School senior with the following qualifications

plan to major in a health field (nursing, pre-med, etc.) or the sciences (biology, physics, etc.).

The Terry Shannon Memorial Memorial Scholarship

Golden Futures Awards & Scholarships
Award Amount: Eight students will receive $20,000 scholarships, and 12 students will receive $10,000 scholarships.
Eligibility: Applicants must be current high school juniors or seniors at the time of application. High school seniors must plan to enroll full-time in an undergraduate program at an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university, vocational-technical school, or CEGEP (or equivalent) for the upcoming academic year. High school juniors will have their scholarship deferred for one year and must enroll in the academic year that follows. Children of New York Life, Zogo, SAI, their affiliates, and their immediate family members are not eligible. Students must complete at least 25 learning modules in the Zogo game to qualify to apply for the scholarship. When applying, enter “Christina Winsky” in the “Referred By” section.

The committee is looking for exceptional leaders who have made efforts to make a difference in their community.
