Summer Kinder/TK Bridge is a 4 week, half-day program that focuses on preparing children for Kindergarten, engaging families with the school community and supporting children’s health and social emotional needs.
Through intentional play-based learning with an adapted Creative Curriculum , students can be more prepared to enter Kindergarten. Students are exposed to early literacy skills and begin learning phonemic awareness and the alphabet through play and exploration. At a 1:8 ratio, students have the opportunity to build relationships with other students and teachers and practice separating from their families at drop-off. They will familiarize themselves with the kindergarten classroom setting and learn to transition to and from recess/lunch time activities.
Families practice routines such as coming to school on-time, communicating with teachers through Home-Visits, orientation and parent-teacher check-ins . The summer pre-K program also prioritizes children with little to no preschool experience , McKinney Vento, Foster Youth, refugee/newcomer communities and Special Education students without ESY (extended school year) services.
