Spelling

 Be ready for the spelling pretest on Wednesday, and the post test on Friday.  (Week 6 will be review of the previous 5 weeks.)  A unit includes fifteen words plus three review and two challenge.  Students that spell the 15 basic words, 3 review words and 2 challenge words correctly will be excused from the Friday post test.  Eventually, after spring break the tests will be written in cursive.

Each student will receive a white (home) copy of the spelling words in August.  An additional yellow copy will be given to students the first week of school to be kept in their "take home" folder.  If these handouts get misplaced, the same information will be provided below in an attachment by the start of the school year.  Open and print!

Spelling words can be practiced at home, on the morning/evening drive, independently, orally, copied...so many options.  It is important to pay close attention to capitalization!  Only proper nouns are capitalized, no capitalization within words, size DOES make a difference.  Good habits are important.
