Want to be more involved in your child's reading? Ask them these questions to get the conversation started:
- What is your book mostly about? Summarize it for me.
- Who is the main character? How would you describe them? Why?
- What do you think will happen next? What makes you think that?
In addition to talking to your child about what they are reading, encourage your child to read aloud to you. This will help increase their fluency (how fast and smooth they read) and is an enjoyable activity for all involved.
