Reading Vocabulary
"The Fabulous Four"- Predicting, Clarifying, Questioning and Summarizing: the four reading strategies that we use every time we are reading
Clarify- to stop as you are reading because you are unclear of a word or idea
Summarize- to wrap up the main events/points of that you have read
Predict- to make an educated guess about what will happen next in the story
Questioning- ask questions about the text using the following sentence starters: who, what, where, when, why, what if, I wonder...
Decode- strategies you use to figure out how to pronounce unknown words
Context Clues- hints in the text the author includes in their writing to clarify what they are talking about
Fluency- the ability to read with speed, accuracy and proper expression.
Rate- how fast you read
