What is the Senior Party?
Immediately following the graduation ceremony on June 4th, 2026, graduating seniors will change into comfortable clothes, say goodbye to their parents and board a bus to an undisclosed location that is filled with a night of fun, snacks and togetherness. This has been a tradition at Orono, and it keeps all the students together and safe the night of graduation. Students are not allowed to bring phones - which provides a more carefree fun night for everyone. Parents have the opportunity to volunteer and help throughout the year and the night of the party.
GRADUATION CEREMONY
SPA does not help with graduation, but since we have a page devoted to information about the senior party - we will share any information we receive from the district. Graduation is June 4, 2026 at 7PM. Weather permitting, it will be at Pesonen Stadium. Tickets are not required. Some parents reserve seats with blankets the morning of graduation. Do not use tape on the bleachers if you do reserve seats, please consider using bungees or twine. Reserving seats is not required to get a seat at the stadium.
CAP & GOWN PARADE
The optional senior cap and gown parade is on June 4th for the students to walk through the schools being cheered on by the younger students and kicking off their last high school day full of memories and nostalgia. Students should arrive at the Mezzanine by 8:30 to begin the walkthrough. We are asking parents to join in the fun and make a tunnel for the last part of the parade. We will start outside the gym doors by the Orono Activity Center and extend going down to the stadium. The Senior Party committee will be there to direct parents on where to line up. Please bring signs, pom poms, noise makers etc. to cheer on and celebrate our students last day at Orono.
COMMENCEMENT SEAT SAVING
You can save seats for the commencement ceremony in the bleachers with blankets and can be tied down with bungee cords or string. No tape is allowed, blankets will be removed by school if you use tape. Again, this is not necessary to do, but some families want to make sure they have enough seats reserved for their family and friends.
NO PHONES | NO CAMERAS | NO WATER BOTTLES AT PARTY
Right after graduation, students who are registered for the party will board buses that are in front of the high school to head to the senior party. Students will turn in their keys and phones before boarding the bus, they will be handed back to them on the ride home. Buses anticipate returning back to school at 3:00AM. The parents who are chaperoning will have their cell phones throughout the party and students can use them to call their parents should the need arise. Toiletries will be provided in all bathrooms. If your child needs to leave early or does not want to stay for the duration of the party, please notify us ahead of time. Pick up must be done by parents or by an adult that the parent designates. Students will be handed a water bottle when they get on the bus, and they will have access to food and water all night long.
