Communication & Technology Troubleshooting
Due to the nature of distance learning, it is possible that issues with technology will arise from time to time. It is your responsibility to communicate any tech issues that occur. For instance, if your internet goes out the night before/morning of class or your computer is not working, you can use one of the following methods to communicate with your teacher:
If the problem is with the computer itself, you will need to submit a Tech Help Desk Ticket in addition to contacting your teacher.
Note: Sometimes teachers have tech issues too! If for some reason your teacher does not start the scheduled live class Meet session because of tech issues, LOG ON TO GOOGLE CLASSROOM to locate and start the day’s assignments (you will still have assignments posted in Google Classroom that need to be completed even if your live class Meet does not occur due to tech issues).
All due dates are listed on the checklist and Hyperdoc provided to students in Google Classroom. If an assignment is turned in late it will be worth 50% credit. I understand that there might be some issues that are out of our control that might prevent you from meeting a deadline. If you contact me in advance of the deadline, I can offer you an extension for most assignments. This will not include large projects or tests/quizzes. If you are turning in work that is late whether you got an extension or not you need to follow the procedure below to receive credit.
Dear Mrs. Pomerantz,
This is (your name first and last) from your (tell me your class period that matches your schedule). I am notifying you that I completed an assignment late and I would like to request a grade. The assignment is called (tell me the title of the assignment you completed). If you would like to use your Oops Pass this is when you would let me know. If you asked for an extension please include that email correspondence in this email.
Sincerely,
(Your Name)

Work Habits
The work habits mark is based on the accuracy and completion of all work that is not an assessment.
Citizenship
The citizenship mark is based on a student’s behavior in class. All students start with an “S.” An “O” is earned through regular active participation in activities and discussions, effective collaboration with your peers, and proper classroom behavior. Students will receive a check each time one of the following improper citizenship criteria occurs, which may result in a citizenship mark of “N” or “U.”
--Tardy to class --Plagiarism or copying of work
--Not prepared for class --Not following directions
--Off task or disrespectful --Having a cell phone that disrupts class
--Failure to follow school or class rules (appropriate online Meet behavior will be discussed)
Department Academic Integrity Policy:
1. Please use your own words when completing coursework. Plagiarism of any kind will NOT be accepted. This includes sharing your work with other students, copying work from another student, or copy and pasting from another student or the Internet.
2. Sharing any information about tests, discussing what was on tests/quizzes/assessments after class, copying/allowing others to copy your work, or allowing others to do the work for you, are all considered cheating.
3. Students who plagiarize or cheat will receive a zero for their work and disciplinary measures may be taken.
Please note: In the event that school goes back to in-person instruction, whether hybrid or full time, students will receive a new syllabus to reflect our change in setting.
