The Ecological Engineering Student Society (EESS) was founded in 2009 by students of the Ecological Engineering program at Oregon State University. Since then, we have taken over a greenhouse, created an aquaponics system, gained a plot of land for agrivoltaics projects, and hosted numerous field trips and guest speakers. Check out more of our projects here, or see the membership page to sign up. All who are interested in the field are welcome (no need to be an ecological engineering major or have any experience), and OSU students are strongly encouraged to participate!
All Ecological Engineering students receive EESS e-mails. If you are in a different major, you can sign up for emails by joining the club on Ideal-Logic. You can also connect with us on Instagram and Discord!
If you have any additional questions feel free to reach out to us via email at eco.clubs@oregonstate.edu, or reach out to our club officers directly.
Ecological Engineering is the design of sustainable systems consistent with ecological principles that integrate human activities into the natural environment to the benefit of both. In 2007, Oregon State became the first university in the nation to offer this kind of degree program at the undergraduate level. It is a joint venture between the College of Engineering and the College of Agricultural Sciences. As of Fall 2024, there are approximately 100 students enrolled in the undergraduate program. More information on the Ecological Engineering undergraduate program is available from the department website.
