Welcome to Spanish class at Our Lady of Mercy! This will surely be an exciting year full of language learning at OLM. Learning Spanish is truly an adventure, one that will give your children not only a new vocabulary, but also an awareness of and appreciation for other cultures.

My goal is that my students will learn Spanish rather than learn about Spanish. The Spanish program focuses on acquiring language rather than memorizing it. Our approach is to learn a second language naturally, much like students learn their first languages. Students will be provided with input (words, phrases) that is both comprehensible and relevant. Students will acquire this input over time and this vocabulary will become language that they can produce organically.

Students can find the class calendar, materials, and reminders in their class Google Classroom page. That should be the first place your children look for important class information. This website will also have the same information available for parents. I will communicate important announcements, assignments, test dates, and resources here. Please check back frequently for updates on what your children are learning in Spanish class.
