Tuesday October 15, 2024 - I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. This Thursday is the Fun Walk at Memorial Field. 7th Grade will be walking from 10:30 to 11:45 (during most of 3rd and 4th period). Students will wear their gym uniforms for the Fun Walk.
Friday is a school-wide dressdown day with a $$$ donation for Diocese of Trenton's Hurricane Relief. -

Wednesday, September 18, 2024 - BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT! Parents will assemble in the gym at 7:45 PM for our State of the School report and first General PTA meeting of the year. Parents of students in grades 6-8 will stay in the Gym for a middle school meeting.

In 6/7/8 Social Studies, we celebrated Constitution Day on Tuesday by discussing the Articles (parts) of the Constitution and some of the fun stuff that goes with it, such as what the 3 Branches are and what they do, the concept of checks & balances, and we ended with watching School House Rock's "The Preamble", about the introduction to the Constitution. We also sang Happy Birthday to the document.

Tomorrow in Social Studies we will discuss the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. We will look at how an engineering upgrade saved lives at the Pentagon and how life went on in the months that followed in lower Manhattan.

We made it to the end of the first week of the year. On Monday we will have a school-wide mass at 10:00. All students should dress in their regular school uniforms since it is a mass day. Once the daily schedule is finalized, including specials, I will send that out. Have a great weekend.

The new school year is off and running. All students received their planners today. Be sure to have your name clearly written inside the front cover. All students should be logging in to their Google Classrooms. Social Studies has an assignment posted. Classroom jobs will be assigned this week.

This week we will discuss the causes and events of September 11, 2001. We will talk about some of the root causes that go back to the early 20th century. We will also discuss what "History" means to us individually and what it means to be learning Social Studies.

Last week the entire Middle School met with the Principal and Asst. Principal. We reviewed things such as the uniform policy, cellphone policy, use of Airpods, and smart watches. All the Middle School students left with a clear understanding of the policies. We encourage parents to ask the children what the meeting was about and what constitutes acceptable school wear and appearance.

It's time to start 8th Grade. This will be a busy and memorable year as you close out your tenure at OLGC. A year from now our 8th Graders will be starting their Freshman year of High School. It will get here before you know it so enjoy the dwindling days of Middle School.
