Dear Middle School Parents,

We hope your families are doing well as we approach the end of the year.

After much thought and consideration, the 2019-2020 Student Council elections will be postponed
until September. At this time, we are hoping to secure dedicated candidates with a strong focus and
responsibility of these positions.  This will also provide candidates with more time to thoroughly
campaign without competing against all of the end of year activities and events.

Additionally, the teacher moderators of Student Council have heavily discussed updating the
Student Council bylaws for the coming year. In the most recent years, only the incoming 8th grade
were permitted to campaign and run for office.  For the coming year, not only will elections be held in
September, but positions will be made open to multiple grades within the middle school.

The change to which students being allowed to run for office is being done in an effort to more
completely represent the middle school on the student council.

-Incoming 7th and 8th Graders will be allowed to run for:
-Vice President
-Commissioner of Publicity
-Commissioner at Large

-Incoming 6th Graders will be allowed to run for:
