Info!
Rides Home from Kings Island:
All students MUST RIDE THE BUS HOME Saturday after we are finished at Kings Island. This is done for your child’s safety and to ensure accurate bus lists, which are very time-consuming. No changes can be made after Friday, May 2 since bus lists have been finalized and printed. Thank you for your cooperation!
Red OH Music Shirts MUST be worn to KINGS ISLAND!
ALL performers MUST wear the red OH Music shirt while at Kings Island on Saturday. There are NO exceptions! If your child lost theirs, you can purchase another one for $6 (to RRMS).
What to take to the park Saturday
A bag labeled with your name containing sunscreen, spending money (KI is cashless!), and anything else you will need at the park. All students should report Saturday morning already dressed for the park: pants or shorts, tennis shoes, OH Music t-shirt.
Music In the Parks – Kings Island Reminders and FAQs:
Emergencies: 859 - 545 - 2130 call or text. This will get both Mr. Anderson and Dr. Warner.
What time do I arrive?
Friday: 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Bands and Orchestra ONLY stay after school!
Saturday: All students (all choir + band/orch who are going to the park) report to Rapid by 8:30am. Buses depart at 9:00am.
What time are we getting back to Rapid?
Friday: Bands & Orchestras leave Rapid Run on Friday by bus. We will return that evening to Rapid at 9:15pm.
Saturday: All band, orchestra, and chorus students will be returning that evening to Rapid by bus at 9:15pm.
What do I wear to perform?
Band/Orchestra: ALL BLACK, FORMAL. Bring with you to school on Friday, May 9!
Choir: OH Music shirt with shorts or pants.
Why do I have to pay $35 if my child is not going to Kings Island Park?
The $35 covers travel for the weekend, as well as the awards that are given to the schools. In addition, that money pays for the staffing and judging of the entire concert festival. All students from all schools who perform pay this registration/participation fee.
Can anyone watch us perform?
YES!!! We HIGHLY encourage friends and family members to come to the performances! They are FREE to watch! Please remember to turn off cell phones and sit quietly while a group is performing!
Can I bring my phone?
Yes, however, you do so at your own risk. They MUST be left on the bus for your performances, but may be taken into the park.
What if I am leaving after the Saturday performance?
You MUST have informed us on the permission slip stating exactly who will be taking you home and when. We must create an accurate bus list, medical procedures for those attending needing medicine, and more in advance. This is due to the number of students attending (~175) and the amount of time needed to create these lists for your child’s safety. When it is time for you to depart from our supervision, please DO NOT leave without first finding your director with your ride. We MUST see the adult with whom you are leaving!
Can I get picked up from Kings Island and taken home?
No. All students who ride the bus from Loveland HS to Kings Island will also be riding the bus home to RRMS. If students do not wish to attend the park or have another event that day, they must be picked up from Loveland HS (see question above).
Who do I hang out with?
You must be in a group of NO FEWER than 3 Rapid Run performers. Your group may be as large as you like. 7/8 Grade Only: You and your group do not have to be with a parent chaperone at the park, but you must remain in groups of at least 3 RRMS performers and be aware of your behavior and the time. DO NOT arrive late to the Awards, check in time, or meeting at the front gate. Be sure not to leave anyone alone! 6th Grade Only: You will sign up in groups ahead of time and walk around with a parent chaperone.
What if someone doesn’t follow the rules?
All school rules and consequences apply. This is a school event – please represent your school in a POSITIVE way! Students choosing not to follow the rules will face school consequences.
What if someone gets sick, hurt, needs their medication or has an emergency at Kings Island?
All emergency medical forms and medications kept at the school will be left in the park’s First Aid building. They will also be able to contact your directors in case of an emergency. First Aid is located across from the EXIT of what used to be the Scooby Doo ride in “Planet Snoopy.” As you enter the park, go on the right side of the fountain and make the first right (at Graeter’s). It is ahead on the right. Parents, call Kings Island First Aid in the event of an emergency: 754-5700
Remember, this is about a GREAT PERFORMANCE first – then have an outrageous time in
the park, but always do everything with APPROPRIATE behavior! Everything you do and say is a reflection of YOU and YOUR SCHOOL.
Help make this a GREAT DAY for EVERYONE!
