What time do I arrive Saturday?

Report to OHHS by 7:45am. Buses pull out at 8:00am.

What do I wear to perform?

Solid Black Concert Attire

What do I wear to Kings Island?

Red Oak Hills Music T-Shirt and whatever bottoms that are school-appropriate and comfortable. Check the forecast as we get closer and dress appropriately. It may be recommended to bring a jacket/hoodie, as it could be chilly.

Report in your concert attire Saturday morning and have your park clothes in a bag. You will change into your park attire after your performance.

If a parent pays the $38 to go to the park on Saturday, does that cover their parking?

Unfortunately, no, if you’re driving your own car to meet us at the park. To avoid parking fees, ride the bus with the kids that day.

Why do I have to pay $37 if my child is not going to Kings Island Park?

The $28 covers travel for the weekend, as well as the awards that are given to the schools. In addition, that money pays for the staffing and judging of the entire concert festival.

Can anyone watch us perform?

YES!! We HIGHLY encourage friends and family members to come to the performances! They are FREE to watch! Please remember to turn off cell phones and sit quietly while a group is performing.

How do we get there?

ALL performers will ride on their assigned bus to Loveland and from there to Kings Island. Parents are welcome to follow the busses.

What do I bring to the park?

A bag LABELED with your name containing your park clothes, sunscreen, money, required meds, etc.

What does "Saturday Driver" mean (on the MIP Permission form)?

"Saturday Driver" is basically a chaperone who will not be riding the bus with the kids. You will drive your own car to Loveland and help supervise kids during the performances that morning, and then drive your own car to Kings Island Park (or go home; you don't have to go to the park). If you DO go to the park, you will need to purchase a park ticket ($38) if you don’t have a season pass.

Can I bring my cell phone?

Yes, however, you do so at your own risk. They MUST be left on the bus while we’re at Loveland, but may be taken into the park.

What if family or friends decide to go to Kings Island but didn’t get advance tickets?

Extra tickets are sometimes available for non-performers at Loveland ($38, cash only).

What if I am leaving after the performance on Saturday with a parent and not going to Kings Island?

You must select this option on your child's MIP permission slip before you sign it and turn it in. Please make sure this info is accurately communicated in advance. All other students that ARE going to Kings Island must return to OHHS by bus that evening when we leave the park together. This is due to the amount of students attending and the amount of time needed to create accurate attendance lists for your child's safety.

What, when and where is the award show?

Arrive at the entrance to Timberwolf at 3:45pm, find, and sit with EVERYONE else from OHHS. The entrance is past the entrance to Vertigo (formerly Face Off – the red/yellow coaster). This is the time when all performing groups will receive their rating, placement and trophy at a wild ceremony where you are free to cheer for your school and others and have a great time, as long as you listen to the announcer and respect ALL the groups there! There are also overall awards, individual awards and an Esprit de Corp trophy that goes to the group that does the best job OFF the stage (ie. SILENT in the hallways of LHS, respectful to staff and other groups, polite, encouraging of others, enthusiastic, but always in control).

Who do I hang out with?

You must be in a group of NO LESS than 3 OHHS students. Your group may be as large as you like. You and your group do not have to be with a parent chaperone at the park (unless you misbehave, in which case we will hunt you down and assign a parent to your group), but you must be aware of your behavior and the time. DO NOT arrive late to the awards (3:45pm in Timberwolf). You may change groups whenever you like, but NO ONE can EVER be in a group of less than 3 at the park. Be sure not to leave anyone stranded!

What if someone doesn’t follow the rules?

All school rules and consequences apply. This is a school event – please represent your school in a POSITIVE way! Students choosing not to follow the rules will be met with consequences. In a very serious instance, students can be held in the security office at Kings Island where they will wait for their parent to come and pick them up from the park early.

What if someone gets sick, hurt, needs their medication or has an emergency at Kings Island?

All emergency medical forms and medications kept at the school will be left in the park’s First Aid building. They will also be able to contact your directors in case of an emergency. First Aid is located across from the EXIT of what used to be the Scooby Doo ride in “Planet Snoopy”. As you enter the park, go on the right side of the fountain, make the first right (at Graeter’s). It is ahead on the right.

Parents, call Kings Island First Aid in the event of an emergency:

513-754-5797

Remember, this is about a GREAT PERFORMANCE first – then have an awesome time in the park. Always do everything with appropriate behavior. Everything you do and say is a reflection of YOU and YOUR SCHOOL. Help make this a GREAT DAY for EVERYONE!
