Parent Information
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope that you and your family have had a wonderful summer and I would like to welcome you to our Grade 5/6 classroom AM and Grade 6 classroom PM, with Mr. Dwyer. We will studying Language Arts, Mathematics, & Science in our class together. French subjects (French Language, Social Studies, Health, Physical Education & the Arts) will be taught by Mme. Kelly. Ms. Cote will be teaching Grade 5/6 Religion and Family Life twice a week in the morning. Mrs. Filoso will be teaching Grade 6 Religion and Family Life twice a week in the afternoon.
Throughout the year, I will be communicating with you through Parent Portal, via email and our classroom website, https://sites.google.com/a/ocsb.ca/mr-dwyer-s-classroom/home. Students will have a homework duotang that will be brought home for them to work on unfinished assignments or Math work. Homework (due dates) and important school events will be found on the classroom website via the Homework tab.
As we prepare to return to school, your cooperation is requested with the following:
Clearly print your child’s name on everything - clothing, footwear, backpacks and lunch kit.
Please ensure your child has a water bottle with his/her name clearly labelled.
Indoor shoes are encouraged, especially during the colder, wetter months
A pencil case containing the following suggested supplies would be most helpful: pencil, eraser, colouring pencils, markers, a sharpener which holds shavings.
Students will have 20 minutes to eat their lunch after their lunch recess. Please ensure that along with their lunch they have several healthy snacks to eat during our 2 scheduled snack breaks. Washable plastic tupperware would be a great option this year for snacks (yogurt, cheese etc.)
We have children with food allergies in our class. Please do not send any foods that contain peanuts as well as other nuts. Check all labels carefully to help keep our students safe!
A one or two inch binder is needed for each student (preferably by the end of September). We will be storing our marked work and assignments in this binder to help students reflect on their learning progress and hard work throughout the school year.
