SCH3U - Chemistry

This course allows students to deepen their understanding of chemistry through the study of the properties of chemicals and chemical bonds; chemical reactions and quantitative relationships in those reactions; solutions and solubility; and atmospheric chemistry and the behaviour of gases. Students will further develop their analytical skills and investigate the qualitative and quantitative properties of matter, and develop a variety of laboratory skills.

Keys to Success in Chemistry

1. Keep detailed notes and review them regularly. If you are away, be sure to catch up quickly on the missed notes and work.

2. Complete ALL assigned homework. The questions and handouts are designed to both review concepts covered in class and to prepare for the next topic.

3. If you are lost, or even mildly confused, come see me for extra help. Do not wait until the day before the quiz or test!

4. Take the time to prepare for labs ahead of time. Read up on the concepts covered in the lab so you will get more out of it while you are performing the experiment.

5. Do not underestimate the power of daily review. If you put the time in, preparing for quizzes and tests will be much less stressful and you will be more successful!
