This course provides a multi-disciplinary introduction to computational modeling. Computational modeling allows researchers to study complex, nonlinear systems. Computational models require extensive calculations, usually performed with a computer, but also require little mathematical sophistication. The goal of the course is to guide students through the formulation of their own conceptual model and the construction of a computational model. The course includes an introduction to the literature on computational models, exposure to computational modeling software, and guidance for producing a workable model. Students will present their model and results for the final course activity.
