Email Delivery

Sometimes the number of emails coming out of the various NYSAIS listservs can be overwhelming. Here are some alternative options to help mitigate the number of messages that end up in your primary inbox.

G Suite / Google Apps for Education / Gmail Users

A great option to clear your inbox of listserv emails is to use the built-in categories and tabs that Google offers. This will allow you

1. Open Gmail / Email Inbox

2. Go into settings

3. Select "Inbox"

4. Place a checkmark next to "Forums"

5. Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page.

6. When your inbox reloads, you will have between 1-5 tabs depending on which categories you turned on/off. Click on the tab you want to view. All listserv emails will go to the "Forums" tab.

Adjust Email Delivery Options

Every member of a listserv has the ability to adjust how often they receive a message. This will not impact anyone else and will only change how often you receive a message. Here are the options available:

"Notify me for every new message" - All Email - Receive an email in real-time as they come into the group

"Send combined updates" - Digest - Receive one email for every 25 new messages

"Send daily summaries" - Abridged - Receive one daily summary email per day

"Don't send email updates" - No Email - We strongly do not recommend this option

**Please note: If you switch to anything but "All Email", any responses you send from your inbox will not be included in an email thread. For example: if Mark Lauria emails all Heads of School asking for their graduation date, anyone that responds directly to his message (if they are receiving every message) will end up in the same email thread, both on the listserv and in everyone's inbox. If you are receiving daily summaries and respond directly to it, your message will start a new thread entitled, "Re: [Heads Listserv] Digest for (listserv) - x updates in y topics" and not be included with everyone else's.

To make this change:

1. Navigate to your microsite

2. Select the following tab:

Heads of School

"Listserv Archives"

Business Managers

"Listserv Threads"

Covid Communications

"Email Delivery Options", then "Adjust Delivery"

3. Click the "Membership and email settings" button

4. Open the dropdown for "Email delivery preferences" and make your selection.
