Welcome

Northvale Public School Guidance Department

Dear Families,

The Northvale School community has risen to the many challenges presented in the last few school years.  It is a community that prides itself on taking care of each other and continues to emphasize the importance of compassion and understanding with ourselves and others.  We have seen our students and community members show strength, resilience and courage in the face of the unknown.  Our school community has always been that way, and it will continue to be as we navigate these challenging times.

In the event your child is experiencing symptoms that are concerning to you, NJ Children’s Systems of Supports/Perform Care is available to you at all times and can be reached at 1-877-652-7624 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year at no charge.  For more information on the services, you can view their website at https://www.performcarenj.org/index.aspx

GRATITUDE

. As noted in Psychology Today, gratitude can improve a person’s mental and physical health. Now more than ever, it is important for all of us to highlight the good things in life and the smallest act of kindness can make an impact.

What is gratitude? Gratitude can be defined as a feeling of being thankful and appreciative. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships. People feel and express gratitude in multiple ways. Some examples may include: saying thank you or other kind words, including others, showing others that you are truly listening to them, spending time with someone, checking in (e.g., by phone, e-mail, text, etc.), and offering help. Even the smallest of everyday actions have a huge impact. Just a tiny offering of appreciation can transform relationships and boost another’s self-worth.

At Northvale Public School, we believe that every student should have the

support necessary to be successful.  As counselors, it is our responsibility to

assist students, parents, and staff to navigate in school!  Our focus is to promote

academic  and personal success by working cooperatively with students, parents,

teachers, staff, and the community.  By providing guidance and encouragement,

inspiration and strategies, it is our belief that all students can achieve

their goals and thrive.
