Career Pathways are clusters of occupations or careers grouped because the people in them share similar interests, strengths, and skills. A Career Pathways program offers students an Educational Development Plan based on their personal interests, talents, abilities, and desired level of education. It treats each student as an individual and encourages all students to achieve their personal and career goals. A Career Pathway offers students a way to discover the relevance of their selected school courses to actual occupations, allowing for flexibility and informed choices in the career decision-making process.
Below, you will find the pathways offered by the Nashua School District. Our high school students will complete both their required coursework for the Nashua high school diploma and the courses recommended by their chosen optional pathway. Students who select and follow a pathway build a foundation for life after high school.
Students are encouraged to discuss their career pathway-related questions and choices with their school counselor.
The Career Pathways assist in:
Helping the student to gain an understanding of the skills required for a specific career
Helping students to be more aware of how school subjects relate to the world of work
Connecting the student to classes that may be of interest to them and may help them toward their goal
Helping students figure out what they're good at
Opening students' minds to all kinds of career opportunities
Student preparation for education and skill acquisition is needed to gain employment
Ultimately, making education meaningful for each student
