The first unit of the year focuses on close reading skills and writing. It solidifies what you learned in ninth grade and begins to prepare you for the ELA MCAS exam in March. We will start with poetry and finish with short stories. This leads into the second unit of the year, which focuses on the Ray Bradbury novella Fahrenheit 451.
