Drop-Off & Pick-Up
Drop-off students in the MPR (cafeteria). Then students will be dismissed by grade and walk to their classroom independently.
Pick-up begins at: 2:30pm at the front of the building. We will bring students out at the end of each day. Please call the office to let us know if your child’s dismissal plan changes. It’s important that we have updated information so everyone gets home safely. Backpack transportation tags will be used during the first few weeks of school.
Homework & Book Bag
To help the students master their new skills learned at school, there will be a homework packet sent home at the beginning of the week. The pack will have 4 pages which focus on our weekly skills(reading, writing, fine motor, math skills, ect.) and a decodable text. This pack will be due back by the end of the week. If your child completes their packet early they are more than welcome to turn it in. Your child will bring home a Book Bag each day. These bags will contain fun, hands-on activities and resources that support the skills we are learning in the classroom each week. You may find heart word cards, letter and sound cards, decodable books, letter games, and other practice activities inside.
Please help your child make it a routine to bring the book bag to and from school every day. We encourage you to spend a few minutes practicing the activities together at home. This is a great opportunity for your child to build confidence, practice important skills, and share what they are learning in kindergarten!
Specials
Our special classes are Art, Music, Library, Guidance, and Physical Education/Health. Students should leave a pair of gym shoes in their locker. Your child will have Library once a week on Fridays. Children may not check out new books until the old ones are returned.
Birthdays
We love celebrating birthdays! You are welcome to send in a special birthday treat as long as their is enough for the entire class. Please check with me ahead of time so we can plan for any allergies or schedule conflicts. If your child has a summer birthday, we’re happy to celebrate on their half birthday!
Snack and Lunch
Snack time is in the morning before our morning recess. Please pack a healthy snack for your child each day. Some examples of healthy snacks are fruit, vegetables, pretzels, granola bars, fruit snacks, yogurt, pudding, etc. Remember that nothing containing peanuts or tree nuts is allowed in the classrooms due to severe allergies within the building. Check the labels carefully. Please do not send chips, cookies or candy. The children are also given the option to have milk at this time.
Some children think their snack is their lunch or eat their lunch at snack time. PLEASE help your child by letting them help you pack their snack, or by placing their snack in a different bag or area of their backpack. Also, please read the lunch menu and discuss whether they are having hot or cold lunch each day. If they are having hot lunch, please discuss which entrée they should choose.
Here is where you can find the current lunch menu!
