Written assignments are for students who are unable to participate in physical education classes due to an injury. Students must provide documentation from a doctor if they are not to participate in class.
Choose one of the following to complete for your participation points for class. Type all assignments using a Google Document in paragraph form and share with Ms. Knorr (sknorr@northandrew.org) by end of the week for full credit. Also include proper spelling and grammar for full credit.
1. Sport/Game History
Choose a sport/game we have not played in class. Include the following information in your assignment.

2. Health/ PE Brochure
A. Make a three fold brochure with information on the front and back about a health issue such as an injury, an illness such as diabetes or arthritis, diet or nutrition, fitness and exercise.
B. You are to use this brochure to inform people about the health issue. If it is an illness or injury you need to explain what causes it, how to treat it, how to prevent it and of course what the injury or illness is. If your brochure is about promoting a healthy habit such as exercise you need to include why it's important, the benefits of it, the consequences if not done, how to do it, and resources to help you do it.
C. It needs to be typed and neat and can include no more than two pictures.
D. It can be printed out or shared with Ms. Knorr.

3. Invent a Game
Invent a game that has NOT been invented yet and write about it.
A. Choose a name for your game.

4. Five Elements of Health-Related Fitness
A. Choose one of the five elements of health-related fitness (flexibility, muscular endurance, muscular strength, cardio-respiratory endurance, body composition)
B. Explain what the element is.
C. Explain how to test it
D. Explain what the results of the test mean.
E. Explain how to improve that part of your health.
5. Sports Injuries
Choose a sports injury and research about it.
A. Choose an injury.
B. Explain what body parts are involved in the injury using scientific names.
C. Explain what happens to the body parts to make them injured.
D. Explain what sports the injury is common in.
E. Explain what the symptoms of the injury are.
F. Explain what the procedure is for healing the injury. Is surgery required, rest, etc. Is there no way to fix it?
G. What is involved in the recovery if there is a recovery from it?
H. Any other information that needs to be addressed feel free to add.
6. Sports Quote
Research a famous sports quote.
A. Research who said it, when they said it and why they said it.
B. What sport was the quote from?
C. Why did you choose this quote?
D. How does it apply to you?
E. If you became a famous athlete, what quote would you be known to have said and why?
7. Sports Talk: Luck of the Draw
Ask Ms. Knorr to draw a Sports Talk card for a topic and assignment.
8. Do an Article Review

C. Choose three of the articles to read and review.
D. Complete an article review for each article.
E. Share article review with Ms. Knorr
