Meet Mrs. Kim Smith Brown

My name is Kim (Smith) Brown and I have been the Media Center Director at North Reading High School since 2011.  I am a graduate of University of NH and have a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons University (formerly Simmons College), Boston, MA.  My passions include lifelong learning and encouraging curiosity in students and teachers. 

In 2018 I was a recipient of the MSLA Super Librarian Award. In addition to my role as a High School Media Center Director, I am an online product and app reviewer for School Library Connection. My husband, a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, works in the field of information technology.

My son is a combat medic in the NH Army National Guard. He spent 11 months on active duty in Afghanistan in 2012-2013 and completed a year long deployment in the United Arab Emirates in 2015. During 2019-2020 he completed another year long deployment to Iraq and Syria. He and his wife have 2  young children. He currently works as a firefighter/paramedic in southern NH.

Educational Philosophy: There are no foolish questions! Asking questions indicates curiosity and a willingness to learn.

Hobbies: Watching Movies, Reading, Cooking, Interior Decorating, Crafting, Playing with Tech Tools, Spending Time at the Beach

Pets: 1 very shy tabby cat named Nick and 1 overly affectionate long-haired cat named Tunafish
