New Kent Educational Foundation Scholarship
This $1,000.00 scholarship seeks to recognize a student for academics and for school and community outreach as demonstrated by volunteer service.
Jacob Aulman Vick Student Athlete Scholarship
This scholarship has been established as a memorial to Jacob Aulman Vick. Jacob was a respected and loved member of the New Kent High School football team and Class of 2016. In honor of Jacob’s character, commitment, and courage to sports and the classroom, this $1050.00 scholarship will be awarded to encourage another New Kent High school student athlete that shares the same passion for school, sports, and life as Jacob did as he/she continues his/her education.
Josh Grey Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship has been established as a memorial to Josh Grey, 2014 graduate of New Kent High School Board. This $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated themselves to be a well rounded student through high academics and participation in visual/performing arts and/or athletics. In addition, the student will demonstrate that they have a financial need.
Gail Hardinge Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship has been established in memory of Dr. Gail Hardinge, member of the New Kent School Board from January 2002 until May 2021, in recognition of her great dedication to NKCPS and the New Kent community. This $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated a desire to pursue a career in education and a love of learning much like the passions of Dr. Hardinge.
Martha Dandridge Women's Club Scholarship
The objective of the Martha Dandridge Woman’s Club was to promote higher education for their members and their community with a focus on culture, education, social welfare, community service and civic involvement. They valued the opportunity to help and serve the community they lived in. It is a pleasure for the NKEF to carry on that tradition and provide a $2000 scholarship in their name.
Stran Trout Memorial Scholarship
This $1000 scholarship has been established to honor the life and contributions of Stran Trout. Stran was a founding member of the New Kent Educational Foundation as well as a devoted community servant to the County of New Kent, volunteering for innumerable organizations and public service positions since moving to New Kent in 1978. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated an ability and desire to pursue a life of public service in one of the many fields that Stran enjoyed including, but not limited to, EMS/Fire Service, law, political science, law enforcement, agriculture or history/historical preservation. The student must demonstrate their commitment to one of these fields through their volunteer service, participation and leadership in school activities, and their academic performance.
Chandler Goins Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship has been established as a memorial to Chandler Goins, 2022 graduate of New Kent High School. This $2,500.00 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating New Kent High School student who has demonstrated themselves to be a well rounded student through high academics, participation in CTE courses and intends to pursue a trade following graduation. In addition, the student will demonstrate that they have a financial need.
Instructional Grants
Each year the foundation awards instructional grants to classroom teachers in New Kent Schools. The grants awarded are for materials to supplement the instruction that the students are experiencing and extending the innovative techniques that the teachers are able to use. The teachers that receive the grants have planned creative ways of expanding the classroom and engaging students in hands-on experiences that solidify their learning.
