The New Hanover County Schools AIG Program

*Values and nurtures intelligence in children and youth so that they may reach their potential and encourages them to create their own opportunities for growth. 

* Promotes student achievement by providing a continuum of services designed to appropriately differentiate and extend the core curriculum for advanced learners.

*Screens and identifies students for AIG services including those from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds who demonstrate outstanding abilities and achievement through the use of varied assessments and multiple criteria.

* Provides continued communication and collaboration among educators, administrators, parents and community to establish a positive vision of gifted education.

* Provides comprehensive staff development program to better serve the needs of advanced learners.

* Reviews the Academically/Intellectually Gifted program to assess the areas of strengths and needs for continued improvement.
