September — All-County Chorus Auditions
7th & 8th grade chorus students
Specific audition date will be given in class.

October 16–17 — All-County Chorus
7th & 8th grade chorus students
Chaperones needed.

November 2 — STEAM Night Performance
5:30–7:00 PM

December 16 — Holiday Nursing Home Performance
Limited participation | Audition required | Chaperones needed

December — The Lion King Jr. Musical Auditions
Specific date TBD | Audition required to participate

February — 5th Grade Recruitment Concert
Date TBD | Murrayville & Eaton Elementary Schools
Limited participation | Audition required

March 4–5 — The Lion King Jr. Musical
Students must audition to participate.

March 12–13 — All-State Chorus
Auditions will be held in January. All-State Chorus will take place at Salem College. Transportation and hotel accommodations are the responsibility of participating families.

Date TBD — Laney High School Chorus Visit/Collaboration
Possible visit to Laney High School to observe a rehearsal with Ms. Mueske and/or participate in a collaborative evening singing event.

Concert Attire: “Concert Black”

All chorus students are required to wear Concert Black for chorus concerts.

Black dress shirt — no graphics or see-through fabric
Black dress pants — PANTS ONLY
Black socks
Black dress shoes — no very tall heels
No jeans, skirts, dresses, torn clothing, or casual attire

If your family needs assistance obtaining appropriate concert attire, please contact Mrs. Bishton.

8th grade Drama students will walk to Laney High School to visit the theatre department.
11:30 AM–1:30 PM

December — The Lion King Jr. Auditions

School-wide auditions will be held for students interested in participating in the musical.

March 4–5 — The Lion King Jr. Performances
Trask Cafeteria | 6:30 PM
Students must audition to participate. A limited number of backstage positions will also be available.

What We’ll Learn in Drama

Throughout the year, Drama students will develop skills in:

Public speaking
Script reading and interpretation
Improvisation
Pantomime
Memorization
Casting and directing
Character development
Stage presence and performance skills

Grade-Level Units

6th Grade — Puppetry
Students will explore performance and storytelling through a puppetry unit.

7th Grade — The Wizard of Oz & Playwriting
Students will work with The Wizard of Oz and develop their own writing through a playwriting unit.

8th Grade — Monologues
Students will develop and perform monologues while strengthening individual acting and performance skills.
