Rod Reed started teaching at Hoggard in 1998. He is currently the longest running band teacher in Hoggard’s history. He began his teaching career in Illinois after graduating with his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education in 1987 from Western Illinois University. He is the current Arts Department Chair, High School All County Band Chairperson, Marching Band Showcase High School Chairperson and the NCBA Eastern District Secretary.
Mr. Reed has been a clinician for multiple All County Bands and was the 2103 NCBA Eastern District 2013 Band Clinician.
Since coming to Hoggard, he’s taken the marching band from performing at football games only, to earning multiple grand championships in marching band competitions over the years. In addition to marching band, Mr. Reed teaches concert band, symphonic band, color guard, jazz band, and music theory.
Mr. Reed is married to Diane Reed who is the Virtual Academy Coordinator at Career Readiness Academy at Mosely PLC. They are the parents to Hunter and Tyler and to two pets Hannah the Beast and Flash the crazy cat.
