During the month of December, educators around the world recognize Computer Science Education Week by organizing Hour of Code events. Computer Science fundamentals and coding experience nurture problem-solving skills, logic, and creativity, and provide a solid foundation for building 21st-century skills. EVERYONE can benefit from learning basic computer science skills.
Last year at Masonboro, students in grades K-3 participated in the Hour of Code during their library time. To follow-up, we hosted two Family Code Nights in late January and early February. Students became the teachers as they showed off what they had learned!
Information about future Family Code Nights will be provided here if we are able to host an event.
You can learn more about the worldwide Hour of Code campaign and some of the coding programs available for free by visiting the Hour of Code web site.
