How many books can students check out?
Students in Kindergarten and 1st grades may check out one book at a time. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be allowed to check out two books at a time. Exceptions will be made for special projects assigned by the classroom teacher.
When do the students come to the library to check out books?
The library is open before school from 7:30-7:53 a.m. (first bell). Students may also check out books during their scheduled weekly lesson in the library.
When are books due?
Books are due back to the library one week from the day they are checked out. If students forget their library books, they will receive a friendly reminder (overdue slip) that states which books they have checked out. Students may also renew their books if they are not yet finished reading them.
What do we do if a book is damaged?
If a book is damaged, please send the book back to my attention. If I can repair it, I will. If I am unable to repair the book, it will need to be paid for so that I can order a replacement copy. Books can be paid for with cash or a check made out to Masonboro Elementary School.
What do we do if a book is lost?
If you believe a book is lost, please let me know. We will check the library shelves thoroughly to see if it was returned and missed by our somewhat cranky scanners. If we still can't find it, I will send a notice home, asking parents/guardians to pay for a replacement copy. If a lost book is found at a later time and turned in, payments can be refunded.
