Theme: Ocean
Literacy & Fundations
We will be starting our ocean unit this week and will be reading some fiction and nonfiction ocean books, starting with a focus on sharks.
Reading Module: "The Continents" Big Question this nine weeks: What makes the world fascinating?
We will be forming opinion statements about which animals we think are most amazing from Australia or South America. We will also be learning about North America.
Fundations: Tapping out sounds and spelling CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words, blending CVC words to read them fluently, reviewing correct letter formation
Trick words this week to learn: one Review: do, my, by, from, of, have, or, for, they, you, I, be, me, he, she, we, was, as, has, is, his, a, the, and, are, to
Phonemic Awareness- changing the first, last, or middle sound to say a new word, deleting phonemes to say what word part is left
Writing
Labeling and writing about sharks this week.
Writing about what we learned after reading about Australia and South America.
Working on stretching out words to write beginning, middle, and ending sounds.
Writing sentences with a capital at the beginning, spaces between our words, and punctuation.
Math
Compare lengths of objects by using groups of 10 and some more.
We are concluding our last math module this week and will be reviewing math concepts we learned this year.
Number writing 11-20
Number fluency within 20, counting to 100
Science & Social Studies
Learn about different continents around the world, including their animals, natural features, and things people do there.
Using maps and photographs to learn about our world.
