Meet the Teacher

Hello,  my name is Lisa Klingensmith and I am so excited to be your child’s first grade teacher here at Codington! I am originally from Northeastern Ohio where I was raised on a large dairy farm. I received my bachelors degree in elementary education at Kent State University.  I then moved to the Wilmington area to pursue my teaching career, and be closer to the ocean!

      I knew this school was a special as soon as I walked through the doors.  This will be my 18th year teaching here, and I have been back and forth between kindergarten and first grade during that time.  I received my masters degree in Language and Literacy from UNCW in December 2013.  I have also earned my National Board teaching certification in elementary education.   

     I love the beach, reading, gardening, spending time in nature, and rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes!  I have a cat named Ollie and 3 fish tanks with various fish, snails and shrimp.
