About Mrs. Ward

Hi! My name is Jessica Ward, and I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year.  It will be a year full of learning and lots of new adventures. I LOVE my job and I am overjoyed to begin this exciting journey with you and your child. My goal is to provide a safe and loving environment where they can learn and grow academically, socially, and emotionally. It is going to be a fun year together! I want to learn all about you and your child, but first I want to tell you a few things about me!

I am originally from Garner, North Carolina. Garner is a small town right outside of Raleigh. :) I moved to Wilmington when I came to attend UNCW in the Fall of 1994. I graduated from UNCW in May of 1998 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a concentration in math. While attending UNCW, I met my wonderful husband, Daniel, and we have been married for 23 years. After graduation, I began teaching Kindergarten at Eaton in July 1999. I taught for 3 years and then God blessed me with the opportunity to become a mom. I was able to stay home for 10 years with my 3 boys - Joshua (21), Caleb (18), and Jackson (15).  I came back into the classroom in 2012 teaching the same grade in the same school!! What a blessing!! In 2018, I achieved my National Board Certification. I was also honored by my colleagues as the 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year for Eaton Elementary. In my time outside of the classroom, I love watching my boys play sports, singing at our church, & going to the beach with my family!
