There are nine ways I can use my S.T.O.R.M. skills in the library ...
Library Procedures
Kindergarten and first grade students are allowed to have 1 book checked out at any given time. Books can be checked out for a maximum of 1 week and can be renewed if necessary.
Second and third grade students are allowed to have 2 books checked out at any given time. Books can be checked out for a maximum of 2 weeks and can be renewed if necessary.
Fourth and fifth grade students are allowed to have 3 books checked out at any given time. Books can be checked out for a maximum of 2 weeks and can be renewed if necessary.
Students may visit the media center before school (with their teacher's permission) to select a book, conduct research, or read silently.
Please use soft voices and be respectful of other patrons using the media center.
Handle all books, materials, and equipment with care.
Gum, food, and beverages should be consumed outside the media center.
Overdue Books
Students with one or more overdue or lost books will only be allowed to check out one book at a time until they have taken care of that responsibility (ie - returned book, payment, or note from home).
Students must pay full price for any lost or damaged books prior to the end of the school year.
Library accounts of fifth graders that do not pay for lost or damaged books prior to the end of the school year will be sent to the student's middle school.
Follett Destiny OPAC
Students can search for books in the library’s catalog (OPAC) both at school and at home. Simply go to https://nhcs.follettdestiny.com and click on Castle Hayne Elementary School.
The catalog can be searched by title, author, subject, or keyword. Type in the word(s) that you wish to search and hit ENTER. Remember to write down the TITLE and the CALL NUMBER of the item(s) you want before you log out.
Students can view their circulation information (checkouts, overdues, etc.) by going to Destiny's OPAC and clicking on the Login tab at the top right corner of the screen. Students will need to enter their User Name [first name].[last name] and Password (10 digit student ID#) in order to view their account.

Can't find the book you’re looking for? Simply fill out a Recommendation Form and I will do my best to add it to our library’s collection. You may also recommend books on a particular topic that you are interested in learning more about. Please make sure that any books/topics are appropriate for a school library.
