Classroom Management Plan

Classroom Safety and Procedures:

Entering The Classroom:
- Enter the room with a level 1 voice.
- Place non essential supplies on the hooks. Leave your cellphones in your bag.
- Gather your laptop and any other supplies listed on the board under the “Do Now” section.
- Log on to Google Classroom and PLTW Portal at your assigned seat.
- Read and follow any other action steps that are listed under the “Do Now” section of the board.
Leaving The Classroom:
- All of the following action steps begin when instructed by the teacher.
  - Log out of Google Classroom and PLTW Portal.
  - Go to the start function and select “shutdown”.
  - Wait until your screen turn black before closing the lid to your laptop.
  - Plug your laptop in to your slot using the chord that corresponds to your slot.
  - Return any project materials and tools to their designated locations.
  - Gather your personal belongings from the hooks and return to your seat to be dismissed from class.
  - *** No one will be allowed to leave class until all materials and laptops are put away.
Restrooms:
- Restrooms are not allowed to be used during the first and last 10 minutes of class. Please get water on your way to class.
- Need to use the restroom?
  - Come to me with your agenda hall pass completely filled out and I will sign it. Make sure to take the key lanyard with you in order to access the building.
Cell Phones:
- We are very fortunate in our class in that we have a classroom set of laptops. Every student will be assigned a laptop to use for lessons and projects, and therefore no one will need their cell phone with them at their desk. All cell phones need to stay in your bag for the duration of the school day.

Emergency Procedures:
- Fire Alarm:
  - Quickly and quietly walk out the back door of our trailer towards the baseball outfield. Continue all the way to the outfield fence, turnaround and create a single file line. Stay quiet so Mr. Law can count the number of students we have.
- Lockdown:
  - Student Responsibility:
    - 10 students report to closet 1.
    - 10 students report to closet 2.
    - 5-7 students report behind the bookshelf.
    - All students stay quiet and still in your locations until we are released from the lockdown.
    - STAY OFF YOUR CELLPHONES! (They should be in your bag anyway.)
- Earthquake and Tornado Drill:
  - Quickly and quietly get underneath the tables. Pull in the stools close to you. Stay quiet and off your cell phones (they should be in your bad anyway) in order to hear any further instructions.
Tool Use:
- Projects are a major component of the course which takes place in the regular classroom and will involve working with small tools such as hammers, X-acto knives, scissors, etc. larger tools such as drill presses, sanders, scroll saws and hot foam cutters may also be used. Following appropriate safety procedures is essential, therefore students will be required to successfully pass a lab safety procedures test with 100% accuracy to participate to use the tools. *** Because of safety in the classroom and lab, students who misuse any of the tools will be referred to the appropriate administrations that might result in being removed from the class.
Safety Equipment:
- Students are required to wear safety goggles on some small projects and while they are working with the larger tools. We have a class set, but if you would prefer to purchase your student his or her own safety goggles, they are welcome to keep them in the classroom.
- Fire Extinguisher:
  - P: Pull
  - A: Aim
  - S: Squeeze
  - S: Sweep
Computer Use:
- Students will be responsible for using the computer assigned to them and using the internet only for class research and projects unless otherwise instructed. Students who misuse another student’s computer or are on websites that do not pertain to class research/projects will result in a consequence that follows our school level of violations.
Food and Drink:
- Any and all food, candy, gum or drinks are not allowed in the classroom or lab. We have a water fountain near us in the hallway so students will have access to water if needed. There are NO EXCEPTIONS!
Absent Work:
- All assignments and projects are posted to Google Classroom. You will be given a one day extension for each day in which you are absent. If you are absent for the majority of a group project; an alternative assignment will be given to show your understanding of the course content. If you can work on any assignment or project remotely while absent it would be greatly appreciated.

Student Behavior Guidelines:

Come to class each day on time, and with a pencil.
Dispose of food, drinks, gum, and candy before entering the classroom.
Respect your partner’s work, belongings and computer.
Use the internet only for class projects unless otherwise instructed.
Follow all procedures listed under the “Classroom Safety and Procedures” section.
Follow the expected behaviors that are listed on our school wide PBIS Matrix.
Every person on this planet is different in their own unique way. Remember to always be kind!

Consequence Policy:

Our classroom consequence policy will correspond with our school wide PBIS point system. Each day you have the opportunity to earn a point for acting Responsible, Respectful, Safe, and following our classroom expectations. By making good choices you will earn your point each day, otherwise the following consequences will be issued.
- 1st Offense: Verbal warning and recorded in our school wide ABE System.
- 2nd Offense: Lunch detention, parent contact, and recorded in our school wide ABE System.
- 3rd Offense: After school detention, parent contact, and recorded in our school wide ABE System.
- 4th Offense and on: Office Referral, parent contact, and recorded in our school wide ABE System
