Counselor's Corner

My name is Christy Miles and I am so excited to be the School Counselor at Bellamy Elementary. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a M.A in Guidance and Counseling in May of 2000. Most of my experience has been in the elementary school setting. I am a National Certified Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a National Board Certified Teacher.  I enjoy spending time with my husband, my stepdaughter, and my slobbery bulldog, Socs.

Please feel free to contact me at christy.miles@nhcs.org

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Bellamy Elementary school counseling program is to provide a comprehensive developmental school counseling program that works to maximize each students academic success and social/emotional development in order to ensure that all students are college and career ready.  By working with all stakeholders, the school counseling program will offer a supportive, safe, and caring atmosphere that will encourage each child to work towards their fullest potential while working to reduce boundaries that may prevent academic success and social/emotional development.

Vision Statement:

The vision of the School Counseling Program at Bellamy Elementary is to support each student through advocacy, leadership, and collaboration as they work to acquire the academic, personal/social, and career development skills needed to become successful, life long learners in a global society.

Confidentiality is an integral part of the counseling relationship. As required by law, full disclosure must be made if a student indicates they wish to do harm to themselves, someone is harming them and/or they wish to harm someone else. In other instances, confidentiality can be broken when given permission by the student.
