3rd grade

In kindergarten through 3rd grade, the AIG program is designed to explore ability and nurture talent among all students. The nurturing program is grounded in the belief that giftedness exists and can be fostered among diverse groups of students. I push in to each K-3 classroom to provide whole group lessons that encourage critical, creative, and higher order thinking skills. It is a an honor and a joy to work with EVERY student in grades K-3!

The 3rd grade nurturing program involves A.I.G. push-in lessons to each classroom every other week. Nurturing lessons include math, language arts, and visual-spatial activities that are designed to explore talent and nurture potential. Each activity also yields student work samples to be saved in individual student A.I.G. portfolios. The collection of standard work samples across the grade level is to ensure that:

  • every 3rd grader has an equal opportunity to complete high quality, open-ended work samples that demonstrate advanced thought.

  • every 3rd grader has equal exposure to modeling, guided support and scaffolding from the A.I.G. teacher.
