5th grade

5th grade students identified for AIG services in math are pulled in a small group for math during the excel block, which is a school-wide time dedicated to enrichment and intervention. Therefore, no core content is taught in the classroom during this time, so AIG students will not miss any information or need to make up any work; AIG is designed to be *different* work, not more work.

5th grade students identified for AIG services in ELA are pulled in a small group for ELA for 30 minutes during the classroom reading block. While students in their class receive interventions and/or time for additional practice, identified students work with me to enrich and extend the standards. Again, students should not miss any core instruction or need to make up work.

AIG instruction will enrich and extend the NC standards that are taught in your child's classroom. The classroom teachers and I work closely to be sure that our instruction is directly aligned and complimentary.
